You ever wonder what a restaurant staff member is thinking as they walk away after taking your order? While I didn’t confirm my suspicions when visiting “Mountain Burger” in Bend, Oregon, I have to wonder if our server found my order ironic because I requested that my “Hangover Burger” be paired with…an alcohol-free beer. 🤔 While I wasn’t necessarily in love with the name of my burger, I was intrigued by the combination of a 100% grass-fed patty, smoked bacon, fried egg, hash brown, green chiles, and pepper jack cheese. All it needed was a beer…minus the alcohol. I have to admit that together this made for an unusual, but quite satisfying, tandem.
We sampled about 1/2 of the burgers on their menu (of course, in the name of “science” 😉) and the variety of choices was impressive. Vegan options are available and they even offer a “Bow Wow Burger” in case you’ve invited a furry friend to join you.
Something else that I’d recommend is the “Soup of the Moment.” They call it that because they make no assertions as to how long each soup will be available. Totally brill, right? I couldn’t resist the “Taco Soup” version and I loved it!
Indoor and outdoor seating are both available, the views of the local mountains are impressive, and leashed dogs are welcome.
