“The Goods” was recommended to us for a review by @mrstvoros (their reputation reached all the way to her in Colorado) and @donuthunting (a.k.a., “The Sommelier of Donuts” 😉).
Located in the heart of the Carlsbad Village, this place immediately challenged any shred of discipline that we thought we could muster and we should have immediately walked out after arriving. There was just no way this was going to end with any of our daily (or weekly) caloric goals in tact. 🏳
Your eyes do not deceive you. Yes, that is really bacon on the roof of that “Vermont Maple Bacon” donut. Talk about a house that is built to last!
When it comes to the “Peanut Butter Brownie” donut we feel awkward when confessing that we actually ate that one with a fork and a knife. No joke! We’re not sure if we’re ashamed or proud to have resorted to such tactics, but it just felt right in the moment.
No matter what you choose to sample here we feel the best word to describe their various creations is “decadent” and this place is definitely worth the drive…like from another country.
