Anyone out there ever enjoy a Biscoff cookie? We did, purely by coincidence, on our flight here (or did that turn out to be foreshadowing? 🤔).
Well however you choose to look at, we gained a whole new perspective of (and appreciation for) an old friend thanks to Ruex Cafe and Bar. We found their “Biscoff French Toast” to be a revelation in the breakfast genre.
We struggled to properly categorize this as “breakfast” when it sure seemed to simultaneously resemble “dessert.” I mean, when trying to compare the flavors it encompasses, references to both an “apple fritter” and “Crème brûlée” were mentioned. All I can tell you is that Dana blurted out, “Dude!” after her first bite (so you KNOW it was good). 😋
We decided to balance our sweet cravings with something from the savory side of the menu and landed on the “Udon Carbonara.” While I was hesitant to include this as part of our breakfast (because it felt more like a dinner option), it proved to be an excellent companion. The noodles were buttery (without being overwhelmingly heavy) and the poached egg added a burst of creaminess.
While the ambiance isn’t noteworthy here, the food certainly is!
And that’s…Henry’s Take.
