La Reyna del Sur 2

This is the time of year when (I guess) we’re supposed to be pondering which New Year’s Resolutions we’re going to pretend to be serious about beginning next month. While I haven’t selected mine just yet, I’m considering resolving to visit more food trucks…just ‘cuz. Seems realistic, right? I mean, why publicly declare that you’re committing to doing something “unfun” like beginning a new gym membership when you can resolve to doing more of something you actually enjoy? 🤷‍♂️

We caught up with “La Reyna del Sur 2” on the corner of Meade Avenue and Texas Street in San Diego, California, and initially I was concerned that perhaps I had made a poor choice because when I arrived there was absolutely no one waiting to order or eating. However, in the time that it took me to study their menu and make my selections, an opposite reality occurred. The line grew steadily longer until we all began to run out of space while lingering about for our food (and I’d much rather encounter this challenge than the former one).

Speaking of the menu, when my order arrived I realized that their definition of “mini tacos” was different from mine. While I enjoyed each of my Asada, Chicken, and Al Pastor “mini tacos”, the portions were generous enough that I struggled a little bit to eat all of them (perhaps another good “problem” to have).

Their selections are made to order, so try not to arrive “hangry” because you’ll need to exercise a little patience while waiting for your order to be prepared.

Seating and parking are both limited, but they accept both cash and cards.

If you’re up for a little food truck adventure, we found this one worth the time when you’re in the University Heights neighborhood.

And that’s…Henry’s Take.
