“Holy cow!” Can you believe that this is our 3rd visit to the “Windy City” and yet only our 1st review of Harry’s place? Well, in an effort to avoid the “3 strikes and you’re out” maxim, it’s finally time to “clean up” this situation.
For me the first question that came to mind upon entering was: is this place a museum or a restaurant? The sheer number of pictorial homages to Harry is nearly overwhelming if you choose to view each one.
So taken by the ambience and easy conversations to be had, our visit spanned nearly 5 hours and if you linger any place long enough you’re bound to learn a few things. Whether it was chatting it up with the friendly bartender or the patrons seated near us, the happy stories seemed endless (including about a manager here who’s actually a Phillies fan and the former coal tunnels still located beneath us).
Eat here, don’t eat here. Just get here, pull up a stool, and chat with whomever is nearest you as if that person were as gregarious as Harry himself. He’d want it that way.
Cheers, Harry!
“A one, a two, a three”, and that’s…Henry’s Take.
