This one is just for the kids. If you’re searching for an easy way to get those kids outside in the trees (with a nice surprise at the halfway mark), then a little time with Isak Heartstone (a.k.a, “The Breckenridge Troll”) might be just what you’re looking for. Convenient parking is located at the trail head adjacent to the ice arena on Boreas Pass Road and this is more of a “walk” than a “hike.” Most appropriate for children 2 or older, the journey from the parking lot to Isak is approximately 5 minutes and is lined with beautiful trees and a little stream (on one side of the trail). The surface is entirely flat and quite suitable for strollers.
