Time to hit the open road people! The Blue River Recreational Path can be entered from just about anywhere in Breckenridge and will take you quite easily to Frisco (10 miles away). Now before you go and say that’s too heavy duty for you, it really isn’t. Avalanche Sports did a great job of outfitting us with the perfect bikes for this type of ride. The trail is 100% paved and well traveled (so you’ll never feel alone). There are multiple sections parallel to the Blue River (and if you’re lucky you may get a chance to pet a horse during a rest stop). You’ll also have a great section alongside the Dillon Reservoir (as noted in the picture featuring the “gun show” 💪)!
If you want to do this right, make sure to have lunch in Frisco (and perhaps do a little shopping). That’s your half way point (if you’re doing the full out and back 20 mile trip). We know that sounds like a lot, but there are multiple slightly downhill sections (both out and back) that will allow you to catch your breath. The skill level for this ride is beginner and the endurance requirement is intermediate. You can do this and you won’t be sorry that you did!
